Oskar Kirsten is a oceanographic research and development engineer who collected exotic pieces of wood, a practice that started during his research trips with Scripps Institution of Oceanography, located in La Jolla, California. Some years ago, he put one of these pieces on an old lathe, got bitten and discovered the world of woodturning. Currently, he prefers beautiful domestic woods that are unendangered and plentiful. Carob, Olive, and Black Acacia are those he particularly likes to work. Oskar can usually be found at any place where a chainsaw is heard. He currently lives in San Diego with his bride of several years Judith, a Great Dane Black Lab and a furry Maine Coon cat.
